More than all others, our friends in Ohio and Weakley County Tennessee taught us the virtues of the 12 gauge slug many years ago. For many years, there were no rifled barrels for the Remington 870 workhorse. Here, however, are Remington Factory Barrels for the venerable 870; and they will fit any model 870 from a 1952 receiver all the way to the Super Mags that now rule the field. Manufacturer is Remington Arms of Ilion, New York. Construction is entirely steel, including sights. Sights are classic Remington 700 type, white diamond notched rear sight that is windage and elevation adjustable, three piece and ramp mounted; and dovetailed white dot blade type front sight installed on the factory ramp. Finish is matte blue 870 Express type. Length is 20 inches; and bore is 8 groove right hand 1:35 twist, mikes .712 at the muzzle. This barrel will accept both 2 3/4 inch and 3 inch shells. Veteran 870 operators all know the drill on chambering. A receiver that left the factory as a 2 3/4 inch shotgun will not eject 3 inch shells. Remington did not move their ejector positions until the mid 1980s. This barrel, then, will not convert an older 2 3/4 inch receiver into a 3 inch shotgun. Photo specimen and its mates shipped from Ilion in late 2012, and we pulled them out of 870 Super Mag Combo shotguns that we converted to tactical configuration. These barrels are brand new and unfired, still have their factory hang tag. Replacement pricing on fully rifled 870 barrels is over $300 in our area, and they aren’t easy to find. We’re offering the 870 Express 20 inch Rifled Barrel in the photos, however, or one of its identical mates, for only $ 219.00.
