It is full time double action, yet it has a positive lock side safety. For added security, this Taurus is equipped with a Magazine Safety, meaning that it cannot be fired even with a live round in the barrel and the main safety off, not until the magazine is re-inserted. An added safety feature is the Beretta type tip-up barrel that allows easy loading and unloading without racking the slide, something many of our fellow boomers are no longer able to do with the onset of Arthur – itis, that is. Add the internal lock on the backstrap, and this little auto pistol even out-safeties traditional Smith & Wesson, Browning, and Bersa Autos for safety mechanisms, a total of four. Add the light weight, 13.5 ounces empty, and a person has one of the best small autos you can buy. Even though Taurus markets the PT-22 sister series to the PT-25, and those are chambered in the more powerful, less expensive .22 LR Caliber, these 25 autos are necessarily more certain to fire and feed properly. We have nothing negative to say about the PT-22, but we believe the .25 is a better choice in a small pistol like this one. And this matte black & brushed chrome, Goncalo gripped PT-25, Taurus Order number 1-250036, is one of the most attractive of the entire series. These PT-25 Tauruses are as scarce as any other pistol nowadays. Replacement price on these in our area is upwards of $300 apiece, if a person can even find one.
