This model is in the observed serial number range for the Model 1896 of 10306 to 22126 as per Bruce and Reinhart, "Webley Revolvers," page 128. It is stamped, "WG TARGET MODEL" on the left side of the topstrap along with all of the usual Webley markings. It retains 99% of the original blue finish. It has a 7-1/2 inch barrel and the bore is excellent. The grips have no chips or cracks. It is in its original .455 caliber and works perfectly in both single and double action. It has all of the desirable target features including adjustable front and rear sights, flared and checkered, Walnut, target grips, and a checkered trigger. The action is as smooth as silk. These revolvers are noted for their accuracy and were used in all of the famous pistol matches of their day. This one is serial number 167xx which was manufactured in 1901 and was almost certainly used in the Boer War in South Africa.
