This is a vintage German manufactured 16 ga side by side open hammer shotgun. "M.G. Stahl" is marked on both barrels. "GECO" is a logo mark on the butt plate. As best I can determine, it was manufactured prior to WWI. It is marked "made in Germany". It has the look and feel of a quality piece with a solid and tight action. I have examined the various numbers on the gun and they all match. The barrel length is 29.5 in. The barrels are bright and show no rust. There is a "nitro" proof on the barrels- they are not Demascus construction. I do not know if the cartridge length is 2 1/2 or 2 9/16. The length from the forward trigger to end of butt is 14 in. It shows quality engraving throughout and walnut stocks. The gun weighs 6.7 pounds. There is no rust. Some moron electric penciled his initials between the barrels on the underside and on the butt plate. I have no personal knowledge of the history of this gun. I traded for this shotgun in 98 and placed it in storage.
