Here is a specimen of the early German Gew or Gewehr 88 Mauser that was issued to the Turkish Military as World War II loomed, and converted to standard 8mm Mauser Caliber by Turkish Arsenals. All of its parts are numbered, and none of the numbers match. That is just a by product from converting donated Nazi rifles from World War On to serve under Axis leadership as World War II loomed. Type is bolt action Mauser Rifle with 4 shot internal magazine and bolt mounted safety; 30 inch barrel with blade front sight and elevatable military rear sight; original issue walnut stock and barrel cover with steel butt plate and steel cleaning rod. Bluing is quite strong on this specimen with about 30 percent brown patina by our estimate. This 1938 Turkish Conversion is as good as one of its type can be; originally designed for black powder ammunition, so if one fires it, it should be with mildly loaded Remington, Winchester, or Federal Factory ammo. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. We rate it as Good finish wise, 70 percent vicinity by our estimate; photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves.
