This specimen is the shortest of Allen & Thurber’s offerings, 3 inch barrel .36 Caliber. Finish is brown patina with hints of original bluing on the flats of its octagonal barrel. We classify it as Very Good, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is Very Good mechanically. Bore appears good, and this derringer is mechanically sound and serviceable. Nipple is flattened to its shoulders, but if someone wanted, it could readily be restored to firing condition. Grips are original walnut with what appears to be their original iron screw and even some finish visible next to the frame. Note the hammer spring strain screw on the grip frame. Serial number is 300 range, but these are like their successor Remingtons, there might be several with its number since they were numbered in their production batches. Markings on the flats beginning with 10 O’clock are Allen & Thurber / Worcester / Cast Steel / Serial number on the bottom flat.
