This Ruger T-512 Mark I's serial number is 12-179xx, dating it to the last year of what Ruger officionados call Ruger's Classic Period, from 1949 until its production date in 1973. This particular pistol is very well preserved, never abused, but it fell into a rough crowd until it was rescued from an unworthy owner by the Texas Department of Safety a few years ago. Its surface wear is only moderate. There is a moderate amount of wear to the backstrap area of the grip frame, and some light scouring on the front of the grip frame. It has a moderate amount of wear on the barrel's muzzle end lateral edges. Rear sight and bolt handle have faint whitening, and there are a few small places of whitening here and there. We rate this Ruger as Very Good, close to Excellent, finishwise, since it has 85 to 90 percent of its original finish intact by our estimate.
