Here is a great little takeoff on the Beretta model 21, the Taurus PT-22 Pistol chambered to hold 9 rounds of .22 LR ammunition. It is full time double action, yet it has a positive lock side safety. For added security, this Taurus is equipped with a Magazine Safety, meaning that it cannot be fired even with a live round in the barrel and the main safety off, not until the magazine is re-inserted. Another safety feature is the Beretta type tip-up barrel that allows easy loading and unloading without racking the slide, something many of our fellow boomers are no longer able to do with the onset of Arthur – itis. Add the internal lock on the backstrap, and this little auto pistol even out-safeties traditional Smith & Wesson, Browning, and Bersa Autos for safety mechanisms, a total of four. Add the light weight, 13.5 ounces empty, and a person has one of the best small autos you can buy. Finish is durable satin nickel. Action is double action only, capacity is 8 + 1 rounds, and grips are fancy Rosewood in factory specs, but we believe they are Brazilian Goncalo. These factory order number 1-25003, PT-22 Nickel Taurus pistols are as scarce as any other pistol nowadays. The contoured Rosewood grips are a definite plus. We recently had an occasion to cycle a clip full of the hyper velocity Aguila Super Max ammo through one of this pistol's mates, and it functioned flawlessly right out of the box.
