While we have not invested in a factory letter on this Smith & Wesson .41 Magnum, numbered Model 57 with no engineering change suffix, its N367 prefix dates it to our Nation's Bicentennial Year of 1976, possibly 1977 at the latest. This is a locally owned revolver bought new from us in the 1970s, and it has been in its original owner's collection for the past 30 some odd years. It has been fired fewer than 18 rounds since it left the factory, if that many. Blast effect to the under side of the barrel's top strap directly above the barrel's forcing cone is a thin shallow crease that traverses about 2/3 of the top strap's width, and that much can develop with the first few rounds. Note the lack of carbon deposits on the cylinder face and on the top strap. There is very faint whitening on the muzzle and front sight edges. That, along with minimal cylinder rotation marking, amounts to no more than 5 percent surface detraction by our best estimate. Photos, however, should suffice for interested parties to judge finish grade for themselves. Note that this is the classic configuration of the original Model 57. The original target stocks do not have a speedloader cut, only the classic N-frame thumb rest groove. Target Trigger is .500 Serrated Casehardened, and the Hammer is the same width and constitution. Bore, cylinder chambers, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Barrel is 4 inch pinned, and cylinder is recessed or counterbored.
