The Sig 1911 RCS, with its “Custom Shop” logo proudly displayed on the slide, reflects decades of refinement to Browning's original design while still remaining true to the original pattern. That pattern is for a recoil operated, link connected, single action, semi-auto pistol chambered for the .45 ACP cartridge. Sig's version features a rugged stainless steel barrel and matte black, Nitron® stainless steel slide mounted on top of Sig's granite hard anodized matte black alloy frame. Controls, including the left side only thumb safety, are a matching matte black although the recoil plug, barrel bushing, trigger and hammer are nickeled. Machined to fine tolerances, the slide and frame are hand fitted to ensure accuracy and reliability (lockup is tight!) Internally, the gun is classic 1911, complete with barrel bushing, standard recoil plug, and traditional length recoil spring guide. No tools are necessary for field stripping. Premium internal parts, including a match grade target-crowned barrel and hammer / sear / trigger set, and the externally mounted extractor are part of the factory performance package on this gun. The straight checkered mainspring housing , skeletonized Commander style hammer, front strap checkering, moderate de-horning, speed bump on the grip safety, lowered and flared ejection port, and diamond-textured extra-slim profile rosewood grips guarantee smooth operation and trouble free carry. The three (3) single stack 7-rd magazines have stainless bodies, metal followers and conventional low-profile steel floor plates. With 7+1 rounds on board in these slim magazines and reduced diameter grips, this gun is both a potent self defense package and an outstanding fit for those with smaller hands. Additional features:
- Patented 3-dot Siglite Low-Mount Night Sight system built into perfectly proportioned combat rear notch and front dovetailed partridge day sights. This system provides an extremely natural and easy to acquire sight picture.
- Perfectly done 20 lpi checkering on the steel mainspring housing and 25 lpi checkering on the front grip strap underscore the quality of this piece as well as ensuring a firm hold.
- Sig's custom dark rosewood grips are the thinnest available on any carry 1911.
