Taurus handguns have always been excellent quality, and excellent values. We have sold them now for almost 50 years. The only drawback to the Taurus Semi-Auto Pistols is the pricey-ness of their magazines, like the One in the photos. Like Mec-Gars, Taurus factory magazines free fall eject, lock the slide back like they’re supposed to, and most important, failure is unheard of. Mec-Gar, however, does not make magazines for Taurus’s 24/7 series, so we are stuck with factory mags. Photos show specimens of Taurus’s part number 5-247-45-12 Magazine for any variant of the PT-24/7 Pistol that is chambered in .45 ACP / 45 Automatic caliber only. This magazine is specifically for the full size grip frame pistols that measure 5 3/8 inches from the top of the rear sight to the bottom of the floorplate on an in-battery magazine. It will go into battery and function just fine on the compact variants, but it will protrude from their grip frames, of course. Manufacturer is Forjas Taurus of Porto Alegre, Brazil; importer is Taurus International of Miami. Construction is entirely blue steel body, with steel spring and black polymer cartridge follower and floorplate. Each magazine holds 12 rounds of .45 ACP caliber ammunition, down two rounds from the standard factory magazine. Not all of our Taurus magazines are packaged; some were pulled out of brand new pistols that we shipped into jurisdictions where there are 10 round civilian limits. Surface detractions will be negligible, occasional carbon residue from factory test firing and insertion or ejection evidence where we pulled it out of the pistol. Brazilian Gunsmiths and workers at Forjas Taurus take great pride and exaction in their work, and they have done our largest Latin American neighbor proud.
