It is not a Colt Ace, nor anywhere near it. The 1911-22, writes the factory, is built to the same dimensions as the full-sized 1911 pistol. It features a lightweight metal frame and slide, low-profile three-dot sights, working grip safety and ambidextrous thumb safety, making the 1911-22 a perfect training tool for 1911 fans as well as a fun plinking pistol for all ages. Factory specs are Single Action Only Pistol; caliber .22 High Velocity Long Rifle ammunition; Magazine capacity 10 rounds, 10 + 1 total; weight empty correct range 34 ounces; polymer 3 dot sights with modified partridge front and stepped-side Novak style rear; ambidextrous serrated safety levers; white steel commander style skeleton hammer; beavertail grip safety; serrated traditional polymer mainspring housing; round contour serrated face skeleton polymer trigger; metal slide stop; and diamond pattern stippled surface wood grips. Barrel is three piece steel inner with steel muzzle nut and metal sleeve. Steel parts included are only the barrel interior, hammer, magazine body and some of the internal parts. Even though the slide, frame, safety levers, grip safety, and guide rod are all metal, a magnet will not stick to them, so they are not steel. So this pistol cannot be adapted or converted to handle center fire ammunition like many of its polymer siblings. It is, nevertheless, a quality German made pistol, and bears the name Sig Sauer Inc., Exeter NH on its slide and German proof marks on its frame. Replacement pricing for any Colt Ace, the nearest thing to this one, is upwards of $2000 apiece.
