The Model one rifle was presented to the US Ordnance Board by John Garand who worked at Springfield Armory, in 1932. Adopted as the US Main Battle Rifle in 1936 and went into very limited production due to Great Depression shortage of funds to spend on Peace Time military rifles. Greatly cranked up production at Springfield Armory in Mass. in late 1940. Demands for the then new M1 Rifle were not caught up until 1944. The M1 Rifle was the only semi auto, gas operated main battle rifle fielded by any major player during WWII. Own one of these original M1 Rifles that won WWII for the Allies and defeated the Third Reich in Europe and the Imperial Japanese Military all around the Pacific Rim. No import or after market parts.
