Here is an excellent Taurus rendition of, and refinement of, the Smith & Wesson K-22, the Taurus M970 in .22 LR Caliber. Barrel length is 6 1/2 inch full lug vent rib; complete blued finish with classic color casehardened hammer and trigger. Sights are fully windage and elevation adjustable, white outline rear and red ramp front. Cylinder capacity is 7 rounds of .22 Long Rifle cartridges. Weight empty is a substantial but superbly balanced 45 3/4 ounces. Grips are factory Taurus serrated rubber. Like almost all double action revolvers, the least dangerous type of firearm there is, this Taurus M970, product Code 2-970061, has an internal transfer bar safety. It also has Taurus's patented internal hammer lock with two keys. Not only is this 970 a more fuel-efficient near-clone to its .41 and .44 Tracker brothers, it is a highly potent round on its own with CCI Stinger or Aguila Super Max ammunition. The parent Smith & Wesson 617 comes nowhere near this revolver for balancing like an S&W 686 or Ruger GP-100, so this revolver is in a class of its own. The descendant Taurus has outdone the parent Smith & Wesson. Photo shows a brand new stock specimen we got with only a handful of others from a dealer liquidation near us here in the Southland. Replacement pricing on this revolver in our area is $400 or more; the Smith & Wessons go for twice that, if a person can even find one.
