Only firearms for sporting purposes were allowed. The Deuches Sportmodell was used by sporting clubs to meet these restrictions. They were a full-stock training rifle designed to replicate the size, lines, and balance of the 98 Mauser but stay within the terms of the Treaty. This one was made by Geco and is in excellent condition. It is chambered in .22 long rifle and has a 26 inch barrel, military style sights, and metal butt plate. The bluing, stock, and hand guard are all excellent. The serial number is 5289 and is stamped on both the barrel and bolt. A Crown over B and Crown over U are stamped on the barrel, receiver, and bolt handle. Comes with a cleaning rod as shown. This would be an excellent addition to any collection of military firearms.
