Description: From 1971 until about 1983, firearms dealers had a choice as to how to get Smith & Wesson handguns for stock. They could pay inflated prices, well above wholesale, or by the late 1970s they could enlist in Smith & Wesson’s Stocking Dealer programs in their Carter Era form. Under that program, for every five Smith & Wesson 916 shotguns a dealer bought for $119.95 apiece, he would get one Model 29 for $250. We would sell the 916s at cost or lose $10-$20 apiece on them, and sell the 29 for $550 - $600 range pricing. The Model 916 was made for Smith & Wesson by High Standard. Quality was never on a par with Mossberg 500 or Remington 870, but they worked well enough, and Smith & Wesson got them cheaply enough to inflate their profits on the package deals. This particular specimen is one we got from one of our favorite trading families in the Hardin-McNairy portion of West Tennessee, and it has taken its share of hillbilly and swamp rabbits in the Tennessee River Valley bend. Surface wear is moderate, mostly on the magazine tube from slide operation and on the lower receiver’s hand carry contact surfaces. We rate it as Very Good, since about 25-30 percent of its surfaces are affected by handling and weathering by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for prospective owners to judge finish grade for themselves. Construction is brushed blue steel, white shell carrier, polymer trigger group, and walnut-stained hardwood stock and forend. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent, and it is as mechanically sound as it ever was. Even though many S&W enthusiasts would consider it beneath their dignity, it is collectable as a relic of S&W high-pressure marketing during the Carter Years as well as being of High Standard provenance. We’re offering it for only $ 189.00. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> $20 flat fee lower 48 states; $50 Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico, UPS Ground with full insurance coverage. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
