Gillespie and many others copied the Henry Derringer style of pistol. Gillespie marketed his guns in NYC from the 1850's through a bit after the civil war. This gun is one of the rarer type of Derringers as it is almost belt size. In really good condition, see pictures, the hammer is missing a bit of it's cover in front which was a common alteration to help the ejection of used caps.
