Allmechanical parts seems to be in working order and move freely. The rifling is strong, however the stock has been refinished and there is a chip in the buttstock. Much of the original metal finish is gone. These are a neat little rifle that have an interesting spot in American history in the early 20th centure. Many young Americans learned to shoot with these Stevens target and hunting rifles. This particular rifle has been mine for a while, and was actually one of my grandmother's rifles before that. I toyed with the idea of rebarreling it to .22 rinfire or converting the block to handle a low pressure .3 centerfire pistol round since it's been refinished anyway. I never got around to it, and likely never will. So as part of clearing out my collection to funs another project, I'm letting this little sweetheart go.
