Limited to 350 rifles (FILE PHOTO) The 1866 Flatside Short Rifle limited edition is Uberti’s way to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the creation of the Winchester Yellowboy. It has the transitional flat-sided receiver of the very earliest 1866 rifles, a unique shape that disappeared in the course of the year 1866. The original is an early serial number owned by a Jewish-Italian collector who lovingly hid it away during the WWII Nazi occupation and saved it for posterity. He later sold it to Uberti, who has waited for a special occasion to replicate it in its most minute details. Only 350 units of this rifle will be produced. It is lavishly engraved (hand-chased) like the original, most likely a presentation rifle for a military commission.
