Historic Ithaca Flues Victory SBT Shotgun

Frank F. Conley in his excellent book “The American Single Barrel Trap Gun” best sums up the Victory grade as follows: “The Ithaca Company at the time (1919) brought out a new gun with much plainer wood and very little engraving which sold for $75. Possibly they hoped to supply a trap gun to the boys coming home from France. It was called the “Victory Grade” in honor of our success in World War One. The word “victory” was very popular in 1919. The First World War ended in November of 1918 and the country was aswirl with victory parades, victory rallies, victory bonds and even victory cabbage (sauerkraut). What better name could Ithaca have chosen for their new low-priced trap gun?” The Victory first appears in the 1920 Ithaca Guns catalog. This gun is # V316047. Walter Snyder, Ithaca Historian, in his authoritative books “The Ithaca Gun Company” lists the Historic Ithaca Guns which were in the Ithaca factory gun collection. This gun is one of the two Victory’s listed as “Ithaca Flues, Single Barrel, 12 ga., 34” barrel, Victory Grade. Ser. No. 306270 and 316047. These guns were manufactured in 1919 and 1920.” These guns were sold as part of the Ithaca Factory Collection on 6/13/78 to the Navy Arms Company. I purchased both guns in 1992.

This gun is in near new condition as would be expected from a gun maintained by the factory for 58 years. Blue and wood are 95% with minor blue thinning at the muzzle and wood storage marks. Case colors are 99%. Possibly the nicest original Victory in existence. Receiver features zig zag line border engraving with Ithaca Victory Grade/Ithaca Gun Co./Ithaca, NY.U.S.A. on one side. Straight grip buttstock, beavertail forend, vent rib barrel, brass front bead (middle bead missing) and red soft rubber buttpad.

Rare opportunity to acquire one of the Historic 7 SBT’s in the Ithaca Factory Collection. More pictures available upon request.
