This Model 10 (originally known as the Military and Police) was made in 1968. This is an older revolver that might be a police trade-in. The blue finish has no cylinder ring and may have been refinished; if so by an expert. It was sold to me by a walk-up at a gunshow who stated that it had belonged to his father, a South Carolina police officer. The are a fixed sights and a VVG bore on the four inch pencil barrel. The stamping is clear and sharp. The ribbed trigger and service hammer both show very good color casehardening. The lock-up is solid with no end shake. Th DA trigger pull is smooth and the SA trigger pull is such that it is clean and without overtravel. It has factory dark walnut, checkered target grip panels.. All in all this is a execellent .38 Special revolver that is solid and provides a fine +P defense weapon. It will fit into any handgun, S&W or revolver collection. In 1990 a Model 10 in this condition would have sold for $150. Todday $425 is a fair and reasonable price for a revolver that is this solis and in this condition.
