Description: Star, Bonifacio Echeverria S.A. of Eibar, Spain quickly caught the attention of Europe, the Middle East, and even the United States with their excellent quality pistols that went into production in 1934. Israeli Defense Forces had this one’s ancestor, the Star Model B, as one of their sidearms during the War for Independence in 1948. In 1983, the Star Model 28 competed favorably against the Beretta M9 for the US Military Contract; then in 1984 and 1985 the Model 30 came into play, claiming its place as one of the original Wonder Nine pistols of the Reagan Era. Similarities with competitor Sig Sauer, Beretta, and Smith & Wesson are all evident. Factory Smith & Wesson magazines, like the one with this one, work just fine so long as the magazine safety has been removed as we have with this one. This is the lightweight variant Model 30 MI served with distinction in the Mishteret Y’Israel, the Israeli Civilian Police in Jerusalem District, a 20,000 officer strong agency that has seen considerable latitude in its issue weapons. From its D 2 date code, it was manufactured in 1984; so it served during both Intifadas in the Land of Israel. This specimen is distinctive from most US marketed Stars in that it is nowhere marked Starfire. Its only added marking is the importer stamp on the right forward edge of the frame, as the photos show. Specs are traditional double and single action semi-auto pistol. Caliber is 9mm Parabellum / 9mm Luger / 9x19 / call it what you will, THE 9mm. Action is cammed blowback with one piece steel guide rod that has a completely enclosed spring. Barrel is 3 7/8 inch 6 groove right hand twist conventional rifling, made to fire any 9mm ammunition from Indonesian Steel Case to Lead bullet reloads to Federal Premium match grade. Construction is steel slide, barrel, hammer housing assembly and parts anchored into a semi-gloss black anodized frame. Slide to frame fit is excellent, and there is full length contact between slide rails and frame rails. Safety is ambidextrous slide mounted, not a decocker; this pistol will carry cocked and locked. Trigger is wide steel smooth faced .400 combat, with .308 wide Commander style hammer. Front sight is milled serrated integral front ramp but the rear sight is missing. Weight empty is 31.2 ounces. This Star’s magazine is missing; The 10 and 15 round Mec-Gars works perfectly in this specimen. Mec-Gar number MG5915 is perfectly formed, and widely available; and the Mec-Gars are better and less expensive anyway than anything else on the market. Factory Star magazines are widely available throughout the United States, and only original Star factory mags work with the mag safety installed. Surface detractions are extensive, with about 20 percent brown pitty toning and extensive whitening and browning otherwise. Note that the right grip panel’s rubber is almost all gone, and the left panel shows extensive wear.We rate this Spanish-Israeli Star 30 MI as Poor, 20 percent vicinity by our estimate; photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Pistol in the photo is the pistol that the buyer will receive. Interestingly, it is excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. With a little work and a couple of parts, this Star can blossom into a fine pistol again. Own this Star 30 MI for only $ 139.00. Not transferable to civilians in California, District of Colombia, or Massachusetts. For civilian buyers in jurisdictions where 15 round magazines are restricted, we will sub a 10 round magazine, or $15 off with no magazine. Includes Chicago, Hawaii, New York, and Puerto Rico.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> $10 lower 48; $30 Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico, USPS Priority Mail, insured with Delivery Confirmation.
