This rifle is not for sale in California. It is an original Steyr configuration without California legal parts. Buyer must verify with FFL of buyer's choice that rifle can be transferred to buyer within buyer's state.
In the 90s, I purchased an Austrian STG58 rifle- minus receiver. I then purchased a semi-auto "Type 01" receiver from Enterprise Arms. The Type 01 differed from the less expensive Type 03 receiver by having an "oversized latch hook for tighter lower receiver lock-up", an "oversized ledge for maximum bolt lock-up by eliminating verticle [sic]play" and having an exterior configuration matching that of the original Steyr receiver. I then provided to "Enterprise Riflewerkes FAL Gunsmithing" the parts necessary to a) install the barrel & true sight assembly; b) headspace the rifle to "military specifications"; c) check chamber throat erosion, and d) test fire the rifle for function. Enterprise used Winchester factory 7.62 ammo for the test fire. Because the Enterprise receiver has tolerances that are capable of a tighter fit than the original receiver, I also provided for assembly the small parts- magazine release, bolt hold , ejector block and cocking handle (basically the entire kit for them to do it right).
Upon receiving the rifle, I took it to the range and shot about 3 mags of ammo through it. It functioned well. I them placed it in my collection where it has remained unused.
The barrel on this rifle is bright with strong lands. It comes with two Austrian STG58 mags. The barrel number and lower receiver number match.
