This lightweight alloy frame 6900 series Smith & Wesson represents the most trusted, most accurate, and most innovative descendant of the custom Devel Mini pistols so sought after among Elite Law Enforcement circles beginning in the 1960s. Its immediate ancestors, the 469 and 669, redefined expectations for accuracy, reliability and compactness, and every compact pistol made today feels their influence. This 6946, with its thoroughly consistent trigger pull system, still holds pride of place as a tactical piece for undercover Police work, and as an optimally configured personal protection pistol. It served and protected our fellow citizens in New England beginning in the first and second year of production, 1991 and 1992, until the turn of the Millennium. The 6946 was discontinued in 1998, and that is lamentable. Specs are lightweight compact high capacity double action only metal frame semi-auto; weight is only 26.5 ounces empty; construction is lightweight alloy frame with classic satin stainless slide and parts, including the satin stainless .304 smooth combat trigger and .260 bobbed hammer. Barrel is 3 1/2 inch with bell-contoured muzzle for reliability in adverse conditions and match grade accuracy. Main magazine is original 1991 pre-ban stainless body 12 round with high impact finger rest; and the extra magazine is stainless body 5900 type 15 round with PGS adapter kit installed to adapt it to the 6900 grip frame. Grips are new replacement Hogue Combat. This pistol has been professionally refinished to a durable, non-glare bead blast matte. Its only surface detractions are minimal to moderate residual wear to the frame edges. We classify it as Very Good to Excellent, refinish; photos, at any rate, should suffice for prospective owners to judge finish grade for themselves. Sights are the original three dot anodized finish Novaks, and they show moderate contact whitening to their sharp edges. This pistol is Excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. It comes furnished with a factory Smith & Wesson blue case, instruction manual, and factory red cable lock. Own the 6946 in the photo for only $ 359.95.
