This is the tried and true 10/22 with M4 / CAR type stock. Manufacturer and warrantor is Sturm Ruger & Co., Newport, NH plant and so marked on the barrel. It is a blowback action semi automatic rimfire rifle. Ruger Part numbers are 10/22RPFTF, or 1219. Construction is steel one piece barrel, bolt, handle, and internal parts with anodized alloy receiver, and polymer trigger assembly and internal buffers. Barrel is 18 1/2 inch blue steel 1:16 right hand six groove rifling. Sight system is collar type dovetailed blade insert front and dovetailed folding leaf windage and elevation adjustable rear. All Ruger 10/22s have 4 screw drill points on top of their receivers, and a Weaver base is included that will accept Weaver / Picatinny Rings or 5/8 inch grooved receiver rings. Trigger is .350 serrated face polymer. Photo specimen pulled at 5 1/8 pounds with moderate felt creep and overtravel. Triggers, trigger jobs, and barrel accessories for 10/22s are legion. Safety is push button type for right handed shooter. Stock is Tapco 3 position M-4 type high impact polymer with two differently pitched main stock tubes, one for optics readiness with no drop at the heel and the other for use with open sights with a 2 1/2 inch drop. Stock has a 3/4 inch right hand cant, so this is not a southpaw friendly rifle without a gunsmith’s attention to its stock and safety. Forend guard has a 16-slot Picatinny Accessory rail. Pistol grip has a trapdoor storage compartment. Buttstock is six position, for lengths of pull ranging from 11 1/8 to 14 1/4 inches. This rifle comes with its original factory issue indestructible metal-sleeved 10/22 BX-1 ten round magazine. Each Tapco Special 10/22 comes in its factory box with foam lining, massive Ruger Padlock and brace, scope base, chamber protector, protective papers, instruction manual, factory registration card, and Ruger product cards. Replacement pricing on AR style .22s, with names like Colt, Walther, Uzi, and HK, are all upwards of $500 per gun.
