After a 40 year absence, Mossberg reentered the High Powered Rifle market with their ATR 100 series. This is a unique specimen of Mossberg’s Night Train series. Manufacturer is O.F. Mossberg of New Haven, CT, with facilities in Eagle Pass, TX. Our factory number 27205 is an educated guess. Type is bolt action high powered rifle. Barrel is 22 inch Fluted matte blue finish, free floating with 6 groove 1:10 button rifling and counterbore recessed muzzle. Receiver is matching short action, furnished with a 15 slot one piece 4 screw Picatinny Rail that will accept Weaver type scope rings. Bolt is blue steel body, with matte blue face assembly, handle, and cowl. Safety is forward type, very quiet, and mounted on the right side behind the bolt handle. Trigger is Mossberg’s LBA Lightning Bolt Action accu trigger, factory set on 3 pound vicinity and with minimal felt creep. Stock is strong but pliable graphite based military camo synthetic with checkered surfaces on the forend and pistol grip areas; integral sling swivel eyelets and with Monte Carlo cheek piece. Included Bipod is a Winchester brand 9 to 16 inch adjustable that replaces the original factory bipod. One piece stocks like this one with no magazine cut are considerably stronger than BDL type stocks. Magazine is internal, and holds 4 rounds of .308 Winchester caliber ammunition, 4+1 total capacity. Length of pull is 13 1/4 inches from the trigger face to the end of the 3/4 inch decelerator type factory recoil pad. Weight empty is 7 pounds 8 ounces, with center of gravity at the stock bolt. This specimen is what we call a factory demo. It served as showgirl for Mossberg’s sales force, on the road with their reps and writers; and at gun industry trade shows like the annual SHOT show in Las Vegas. We are including a new FM brand 6x18 x40mm Adjustable Objective with Duplex type crosshairs and four screw Weaver type rings. Surface detractions on the rifle itself are minimal, really no more streaking and faint edge whitening than what one sees on many new display guns in stores. This rifle comes in a Mossberg factory box with lock and instruction manual that contains Mossberg’s warranty statement. If it has been fired at all, it was fewer than 20 times. We rate it as Excellent, 90 to 95 percent vicinity by our estimate, but its photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. Replacement pricing on this rifle in our area is upwards of $600.
