Photos show a specimen of Smith & Wesson's Military & Police Pocket Rocket, the MP 40 Compact, the MP40C, Smith & Wesson’s answer to the Glock 27 Subcompact. Specs are as follows. Weight empty, no magazine, is 21.7 oz; weight fully loaded will be a bit over 30 ounces. Overall length is 6.7 inches; 5 1/2 inch height; and very nice thin 1.2 inch width. Barrel length is 3 1/2 inches with a 5 3/4 inch sight radius. This pistol, like all M&Ps, is full time double action, striker fire action, with a very consistent 6.5 pound trigger pull that only travels .300 inches from rest to fire and resets in only .14 inches. Frame is Zytel Polymer, and barrel and slide are Black Melonite finished stainless. The frame, as the photos show, incorporates a Picatinny Weaver type rail for light and laser mounting. This variant, 109303, does not have an internal lock or a magazine safety. It can fire, then, with only a single round in the chamber even if there is no magazine in battery. The M&P series takes all comers for ease of handling, positive feel, and reliability and consistency under the most adverse field and combat situations. M&P series has a fully ambidextrous magazine release setup; it is as easy to switch sides on it as a Beretta 92. Magazine capacity is 10 rounds of .40 Smith & Wesson caliber ammunition, and this pistol comes with both original 10 shot factory magazines. It also has both replacement grip back straps that will alter the grip circumference. Surface detractions are negligible, no more edge whitening to the rear sight than many of its brand new mates we sell. We rate it as Near Mint in Box; but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is certainly excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. It comes in its original factory box with factory overlabel of 609303 SKU over 109303. The 6 prefix indicates demo status, probably issued to a Smith & Wesson sales rep, and served as a showgirl at trade shows. It has its instruction manual, fired brass envelope dated from 2012, and never completed factory registration card. This variant commands retail prices in our area of $600 or more. We're offering the exact pistol in the photos, however, for only $ 469.00. Not transferable to civilian residents of California, the District of Colombia, or Massachusetts.
