Description: Here we have a nice Colt and a real piece of Southwest history. This Bisley Model was shipped to the Copper Queen Mine, Arizona Territory, on February 4, 1904, with three other Colts. It probably went to the to the security force employed by the Company, since it was ordered by the Detroit Mine in Morenci, through the company store in Bisbee. Cochran (The Colt Peacemaker Encyclopedia, 1986) states that after observing the Colt’s records, there were 541 Single Actions Army revolvers and only 5 Bisley Models shipped to Copper Queen Consolidated Mining Company at their four places of business (Bisbee, Douglas, Morenci and Naco). Whether that is exactly true or not, this Bisley is one of very few, starting in 1892.

This Bisley is a Colt Frontier Six Shooter (.44 WCF) with 4.75” barrel and hard rubber grips. It shows traces of original blue in protected areas and the cylinder flutes. It has a good bore with only some shallow pitting toward the muzzle. It is quite functional and locks up tight with four clicks. It is accompanied by a vintage Mexican double loop holster, not maker marked, but in very good condition. Along with the Colt’s letter, there are some copies of stock certificates and background history of the Copper Queen and Detroit mines.
