M-1 GARAND FOR SALE
Due to medical issues, I am no longer able to tolerate the recoil of a 30.06 cartridge. I have a Springfield Armory M-1 manufactured in mid-September, 1941. I obtained this weapon from the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) as a service grade weapon. It shoots beautifully. I have performed some minor restoration on the stock to hide some of the dings and dents it acquired during its service. I also installed a recoil pad. For the purist, I still have the original butt plate. The bore has clean sharp rifling and is rust free. Refinishing the stock removed some of the cartouches, but I was able to bring up the beautiful grain of the walnut stock.
I am selling this weapon as a package deal. In addition to the books, cleaning equipment, special tools, other documents and a new leather sling, the package includes 1,050 rounds of 30.06 ammunition, approximately 800 rounds are in metal clips and 240 rounds in boxes which reside in an unopened spam can. All of my ammunition was purchased from CMP as surplus. With this amount of ammunition, I will only be able to ship at the buyer's expense.
I am located in Maryland and would be willing to demonstrate the weapon at my gun club. I consider my $1,500 asking price a fair estimation of the value of this “Garand” package, but I will entertain reasonable counter offers.
This is a bad time of year to obtain information on shipping ammo from shipping companies. I will try again after the hoilidays
Private seller. Medical considerations, heart transplant and catheter in chest for Dialysis are not compatible with 30.06 recoil. The M-1 Garrand was manufactured by the Springfield Armory in mid September 1941. It shoots beautifully. It came from the CMP with the usual dents and scrathes of a Service Grade weapon, however I could not abide it hanging on my gun rack in this condition so with a bit of time, sandpaper and oil; I brought out the lovely grain of its walnut stock. A new leather sling and the replacement of the steel butt plate with a recoil pad completed my modifications.(I still have the butt plate if you are a purist)
The bore of the weapon is clean and shiny, the rifling crisp and sharp without rust pits.
Accessories include The M-1 tool,a device which allows you to dry fire the weapon, one hundred and six loaded eight round clips and an unopened Spam Can containing two hundred and forty rounds in cartons, for a Grand Total of one thousand eighty rounds.
I would prefer a local buyer as I do not wish to ship the Ammo. Cash or a Cashier's Check on a local bank or a USPS Money Order sent to me through the USPS.
