Piotti Monaco #1, .410, CREATIVE ART ENGRAVED, 29" BARRELS, WOW!
Piotti shotguns are considered Italian "BEST" guns and are equal to any double guns made in the world. Some say they even surpass a Purdey, though the same people have been called heretics as well! A full sidelock Holland style action, engraved by Italy's best, stocked to the fences, chopper lump barrels, action machined out of a solid billet of the best steel, all combine to make a fine game or clays gun. The "Monaco" is the very best quality side by side Piotti has to offer. The cost of ordering a new Monaco like this one would exceed $52,000. Finding an "as new" Monaco in .410 is a rare opportunity to own the finest small bore Italian guns made, at a fraction of the cost...and without the long wait for a newly ordered gun. This Piotti, serial number 9525 made around 1996, is nearly new with some fine options. Weighing 5lbs. 12oz.. and balanced 1/4" ahead of the hinge pin, highly figured wood and engraving by the most desirable Creative Art, makes this a wonderful investment quality firearm. Remember, as the price of a new Piotti continues to rise, so will the cost of a like gun that has been previously owned.
The 29" chopper lump barrels retain 99.5% factory blue with mirror bores, choked SK/M (.002/.011), bore diameter of .418 both barrels, no pits, scratches, dents, file cut rib, ribs tight, ejectors strong and timed, 3" chambers, barrels tight on hinge and breech face like a new gun, basically brand new and flawless.
The action is deeply engraved with Monaco #1 style engraving by the most sought after artisans of Creative Art. The full sidelock action is mechanically perfect, coin finished, strong well timed ejectors, crisp double triggers break at 3.25lbs. front, 4.25lbs. rear, delightfully engraved trigger guard with rolled edge on right side (initials can be removed or altered per your request for a small fee), perfect screws, action tight with lever to the right, gold cocking indicators, beaded fences, sculpted frame, JUST STUNNING!
The English style stock and splinter forearm are exhibition grade, extra cost walnut with oil finish, nearly perfect, excellent checkering, perfect wood to metal fit, no splits, cracks, or repairs, gold shield inlaid in forearm, 14 5/8" LOP to checkered butt, 2 1/4" drop at heel, 1 5/16"" drop at comb, neutral cast (can be altered to your specs within 14 days of purchase), again, simply stunning.
Searching the entire internet, there are zero Piotti Monacos in .410 bore being offered for sale and there have not been any in the recent past. Ordering a new one is a process that takes a year or more. A finer upland gun or small bore clays gun I could not imagine. Light, balanced, choked for shooting over fine pointing dogs, and a delight to the eye, this Piotti is an extraordinary value. Priced to give you instant equity, and sure to increase in value, as the interest in small bore double shotguns continues to show strong growth and makers struggle to keep pace with demand.
