The weight, balance, look, feel, and most of the controls' placement and operation are just like the 5.56mm x 45 NATO rifle. The ARX160 features an ambidextrous magazine release and two-position safety lever, easy access to the bolt and trigger system, MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rails in aluminum and polymer, adjustable polymer flip-up sights, and a STANAG-type magazine. Manufacturer is Umarex Sportwaffen of Arnsberg, Germany. Importer is Beretta USA of Accokeek, Maryland, and Gallatin, Tennessee. Construction is steel and polymer, with minimal amounts of zinc alloy. Type is blowback action semi-automatic Rimfire rifle. Barrel is 18 inch, 1:16 right hand eight groove with a 2 inch 4 slot steel muzzle brake. Sight system consists of a 34 slot Picatinny upper rail, with folding adjustable post front and five aperture rear that is calibrated from 100 to 500 meters. Lateral forend area rails are 10 slot, with a single 16 slot under barrel rail. Stock is side folding with a 3/4 inch right hand cant, not particularly southpaw friendly. Buttstock is 4 position retractable, and yields a length of pull from 10 1/2 to 13 inches from the .430 smooth face polymer trigger to the end of the cleat serrated butt plate. Magazine is high impact polymer straight feed, 20 rounds of .22 Long Rifle caliber ammunition. Weight empty is 6 pounds 1 ounce, with center of gravity at the breech face with the stock retracted.
