The early Winchester 94 rifles were pretty much all notorious for not holding blue well on their very hard steel receivers. This one is exceptional, since it is a local rifle that has seen moderate use here in the Deer Woods of West Tennessee. Blue wear on the receiver only amounts to a series of weakened spot; first, on the right upper side and forward and rear bevels of the right side, and less pronounced specly brown areas on the left side flats. Upper edge of the lever and sides of the hammer show minimal receiver contact whitening. Upper tang has handling speckling. The original walnut stock and forend have minimal handling wear, only a few tiny specks on the forend and similar on the buttstock. Note the very inconspicuous repair to the center under side of the forend where the exclusive retail owner had little enough sense to try to install a swivel stud while this rifle was new. We rate this rifle as a strong Very Good, perhaps even Excellent, specimen, since it has 85 to 90 percent of its original finish intact by our estimate. Photos should suffice, however, for prospective owners to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Serial number 39868xx dates it to 1973, President Nixon's second Inaugural Year. We're offering it for only $ 379.95
