Classic L C Smith 12ga double, s/n 724xx, manufactured in Fulton NY after the turn of the last century. With this serial number, it must have been one of the first to come from the Fulton factory, which began in 1899 and operated until 1932. Research letters are available through the collector's association.
This side hammer sxs has 30" Royal Steel barrels–supposedly the strongest they made at the time–but they are rough inside. Overall, the steel and the stock have a nice patina though the original case colors have long since faded away. There is a lot of power in those mainsprings yet, though I'm selling this as a wall hanger, and have priced it accordingly. Certainly a classic and interesting conversation piece with a long history.
