Here is Para-Ordnance's contribution to the utilitarian 1911 Government Type Pistol market, their GI Expert. In many respects, it is a plain 1911, with, standard safety and grip safety, and black rubber PO logo grips. Note, however, its skeletonized Commander Hammer, flat mainspring housing, 7 groove serrated ported metal trigger, and reaily visible three dot sights, all in a matte stainless finished package. Manufacturer is Para USA of Pineville, North Carolina, quite a ways from the original production facility in Toronto. Para-Ordnance's glassy smooth matte stainless finish rivals any Colt or Kimber on the market today. Action is conventional Government Type Single Action only. Weight empty is a standard steel frame 40 ounces; and the main safety and grip safety are supplemented by a Series 80 style firing pin block safety, designed to guard against accidental discharge if the pistol is dropped with a round in its chamber. Barrel is 5 inch match grade stainless; trigger is black anodized skeleton type with overtravel adjustment. Hammer is matching skeletonized Commander type, with beavertail grip safety and C type flat black mainspring housing. Type is single action, cock-and-lock, Browning design 1911. Weight empty is 39 ounces. The GI Expert Stainless comes with two magazines; both are Para factory matte blue 8 shot with steel body and springs, and black polymer floorplate and cartridges follower. Similar pistols from Colt, Sig, Kimber, and even Ruger command prices in the $1000 vicinity.
