Type is striker fired locked breech semi-automatic pistol. Construction is stainless steel slide, barrel, and full length guide rod with steel internal parts housed in a Zytel Polymer grip frame. Chambering is .45 ACP caliber. Barrel is 4 inch, six groove 1:16 right hand ECM rifled bore, good to go on well made lead bullets where German and Austrian pistols are not. Sight radius is 6 1/8 inches. Barrel and slide are Melonite finish black stainless. Sights are factory Trijicon Night Sights, dovetailed into the slide. Frame has an integral 3 slot picatinny rail for light or laser. The M&P 45 is full time double action with a very consistent 6.5 pound trigger pull that only travels .300 inches from rest to fire and resets in only .14 inches. Safety system includes a firing pin safety, trigger safety. This M&P 45 will fire single shot even with the magazine removed. Weight empty, no magazine, is 28 oz; weight fully loaded will be a bit over 35 ounces. Overall length is 7 1/2 inches; 5 1/2 inch height; and very nice thin 1.14 inch width at the ejection port. The M&P 45’s grip frame back strap piece can be changed to vary the grip circumference, and it comes with all three pieces. The M&P series takes all comers for ease of handling, positive feel, and reliability and consistency under the most adverse field and combat situations. This pistol comes to us through Smith & Wesson’s Law Enforcement Division. From its MPY serial number prefix, it was manufactured in 2007. Department markings are neatly executed on the barrel shroud and beneath the extractor, SPD probably indicates Syracuse NY Police Department. Surface detractions are moderate, principally holster wear to the slide and streaking on the right side of the grip frame. We rate it as Very Good, 80 percent vicinity by our estimate. Photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. We estimate it was fired fewer than 500 times, no rounds at all for an MP 45. Lateral movement to the slide is minimal to moderate. Night sights are at least 80% of original strength.
