Description: HG1867 From a 40 year domicile in Knoxville, this General Precision brand Revolver has migrated into the area where we sold so many of its mates in the late 1960s, West Tennessee; or as we like to call it, Tennessippi. The design is a good one, only executed with very substandard materials, not even enough to pass South Carolina’s 1983 Melt Law. The original company, by our poor memory, domiciled in Matthews North Carolina, and some time immediately after passage of the 1968 Gun Control Act, relocated to Bohemia, New York. Since we logged through specimens in the 2200 serial number range in 1968, this one’s 44000 range indicates it was manufactured in 1972 or 1973 at the Bohemia Plant, renamed Model 71 from the Carolina Imp model designation. The ancestor Smith & Wesson Ladysmith whose production only ran from 1902 to 1906 was on a similarly dimensioned Tiny M frame, as Mr. Supica puts it. This one is also made on a four screw design with a frame thickness of only .567 inch. Where the original Ladysmith was chambered for .22 Long, and the Rossi Princess of the mid 1960s was chambered quite riskily for the Long Rifle cartridge, this Model 71’s manufacturers, like their Carolinans, chambered it in .22 Short. Our Knox County owner actually fired it, but with low velocity .22 Short ammunition. Contrasting with the Ladysmith and Rossi, which were both true swingouts, this one, like its RG-10 and RG-14 competitors, is a pull-pin fall-out 7 shot cylinder. Barrel length is 2 – 3/32 inches. Weight empty is only 10 1/2 ounces; steel barrel, cylinder, rod, hammer, trigger, and internal parts all anchored in a Pot Metal gloss black frame. This Model 71 Imp has only minimal surface detractions, moderate amounts of edge whitening. We rate it as Very Good, Close to Excellent finishwise, since no more than 15 percent of its surfaces are affected in our estimation. Photos ought to suffice for our shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Mechanically, it is as good as it ever was; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. This little revolver, cute though it is, is simply not strong enough to stand much operation. After all, we sold them new for $15 to $20 apiece in considerable quantities during their heyday, but we also stocked CB and .22 Short Standard Velocity ammunition back then, too. That is why we will not accept any returns on it. If the buyer knows what it is, and knows anything about guns, he or she won’t want to return it anyway. It will be another 10 years before this New York Carolina Transplanted Ladysmith copy is C&R Eligible. Until then, we’re offering it for only $ 139.00. Not transferable to civilians in California, Chicago, District of Colombia, or South Carolina. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> $10 lower 48; $30 Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico, USPS Priority Mail, insured with Delivery Confirmation. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
