Here is a single owner specimen of the classic, current-production representative of the 1911 Colt Government model. As it always has done, the Colt .45 Government speaks for itself. This one is standard bright blue, 5 inch barrel, with factory rosewood grips. Colt factory designation is Model O1991, model O. Construction is all blued steel. Trigger is black anodized aluminum. Only the mainspring housing appears to be plastic. The Colt M1991A1, writes the factory, is a direct 4th generation descendant of the "often imitated but never duplicated" Colt M1911 classic automatic pistol. It was selected as the U.S. military service sidearm in a head to head competition. The superior Colt was found to be, more reliable, more durable, more easily disassembled, less fatiguing and more accurate. Specs are Single Action Semi-Auto; 5 inch barrel; Matte Blue finish; 3-Dot Sights; weight empty 38 ounces; magazine capacity 7 + 1; furnished with two factory Colt magazines. This particular Government Model belonged to our favorite local electrician. It is in its original box with all its papers, lock, and extra magazine. He bought it new from us in 2009. It has been fired fewer than 200 times. We rate it as Excellent, 90 percent vicinity by our estimate; but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves.
