This tube will fit standard old model Remington 12 gauge shotguns with detent balls embedded into their barrel lugs; and whose magazine tubes hold 4 rounds of 2 3/4 inch shells. Remington Shotguns with dimpled magazine tubes and magazine spring retainers that rotate into place must have their dimples removed and their main tubes modified. See the photos for the difference. This magazine tube is ready to install on an older Remington with 18 inch barrel. From our enterprising neighbors in Versailles, Kentucky, comes this high impact Polymer Magazine Extension 8 shot to fit Remington 870s, 1100s, and 11-87 shotguns. The newer manufactured 1100s and 11-87s will require modification to their magazine tubes, since there are dimples inside the new shotguns' tubes that hold the spring retainer in place. The way we do it is simply Dremel down the two dimples and make sure the inside of the tube is smooth so that the shells will move along smoothly in the tube. Once a person does that, he cannot go back to the old shorter style; it permanently modifies the magazine tube of the shotgun itself. This Advanced Tech Extension tube comes with its own extended spring to replace the shorter spring in the shotgun's 4-shot tube. This extension will up the magazine capacity from 4 rounds of 2 3/4 inch shells to 7 rounds of 2 3/4 inch shells, 7+1 or 8 round capacity, including a shell in the barrel, of course. Capacity is one round less for 3 inch magnum shells, and two rounds less for 3 1/2 inch Magnums. This tube matches a 20 inch barrel very well, and should be used with one of Advanced Technology Company's Barrel-to-Magazine Clamps, easily installed.
