Parker VH 20ga. ENGLISH STOCK, RESTORED TO NEW, GORGEOUS!!!
How many VH Grade Parker small bores do you ever see with a factory English style stock? Damn few, that is for sure. Most upland hunters love the straight grip stock and for good reason; fast to the shoulder, comfortable carry, lightweight, and of course the racy, sleek lines are just a delight to the eye. This 1903 vintage Parker, sn119789 has been artistically restored to historical correct finishes and is as new inside and out. All parts are original from the factory, including the dogs head butt plate. At 5lbs. 14oz and balanced right on the hinge pin it is a delight in hand. It is about ½ a pound lighter than most Parker 20 gauge guns. In the lower grade American double guns English stocks are near non-existent, so this is quite a find!
The 28” barrels have excellent bores, choked IC/F (.013/.029, can be altered for $70 per barrel), bore diameter of .623 right .621 left, minimum barrel wall thickness 29 thou right, 30 thou left, no pits or scratches, rust blue 100%, 2 ¾” chambers with lengthened forcing cones for less recoil and better patterns, ribs tight and barrels ring, no dents, double ivory beads, extractors, sharp clear lettering, A GREAT SET OF BARRELS.
The action has been beautifully bone and charcoal case colored, engraving clear and sharp, excellent screws, action tight with lever way right of center, excellent crisp trigger pulls, trigger guard 100% niter blue, entire action stripped, inspected, cleaned, and properly lubed during the case color process. There are no surprises in any of the guns restored by Vintage Firearms, Inc.. Our goal is to never overlook the smallest details. This one is ready for another 100 years of service, with a good cleaning every 5 years.
The wood is in excellent shape with good figure, excellent checkering with mullered border, excellent wood to metal fit, 14” LOP to original Dogs Head butt plate, 2 ½” drop at heel, 1 5/8” drop at comb, (can be bent to your specs, use a Galco slip on for length or we can custom fit a pad with no alteration of the stock), no cracks or repairs, Tru-oil finish with all pores filled.
Parker 20 ga. guns on the “O” frame are delightful, highly sought after shotguns with excellent mechanics and handling dynamics that always seem to be “just right”. This gun was in good mechanical condition when obtained, but mostly a “grey gun”. We have breathed new life into this dainty gal and she is configured as an outstanding upland gun. What a delight to carry without the arm fatigue at the end of the day. I just love small bore, straight gripped Parkers and they are so hard to find in the VH grade. With proper care this gun will continue to increase in value as you enjoy its use.
