The principal Hungarian Armsmaker FEG, whose Hi Power clones are well known and respected, began production of their version of the venerable Kalashnikov Rifle in 1965 with this rifle’s ancestors. Unlike common AKs, this one is all metal with the exception of the gray polymer pistol grips; and the front mounted grip makes this rifle distinctive and keeps its operator’s left hand from getting burned during protracted firing sessions. Manufacturer is FEG of Hungary. Importer is Tennessee Guns Inc of Knoxville, TN. Type is Kalashnikov semi-auto. Construction is stamped process steel parts with milled steel barrel and bolt. Barrel proper is only 13 1/2 inches, but the permanently attached muzzle brake keeps its length safely legal at 16 1/2 inches overall. Stock is distinctive steel tube side bolder with half inch hard rubber pad on its steel buttplate. Length of pull is 13 1/8 inches from the trigger face to the end of the butt pad. Overall length extended is 36 1/4 inches, or 26 inches folded. Magazine is original issue 30 shot black matte steel. Weight empty with magazine is 7 1/2 pounds. Sights are traditional Kalashnikov calibrated rear and adjustable wing protected front. Surface detractions on this rifle are minimal, only moderate scouring on the pistol grips and faint edge whitening here and there. We rate it as Excellent, 90 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is certainly excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Replacement pricing on many quality AKs nowadays exceeds $1000 apiece.
