The Factory Folk at Taurus International in Sao Paulo and Miami write that their new 845 is the showcase of their 800 series pistols, derived from the successful Taurus OSS pistol designed for the U.S. Armed Forces. Responsive to popular demand, the 845 adds an external hammer. The 800 Series, then, is ready with Strike Two capability. If you have had a hard primer and the gun misfires, the 800 Series senses this and automatically gives the shooter instant Strike Two capability by resetting the trigger for automatic double action re-strike. No need to do anything else, simply pull the trigger. Murphy’s Law dictates that misfires will happen, even with nail-driving .45s. Barrel is 4 inch Service Size Stainless; Construction polymer frame with steel slide, barrel, and parts; innovative two-piece guide rod for improved accuracy; easy operating disassembly levers; ambidextrous serrated safety levers and slide release; true ambidextrous magazine release with no switching required for Southpaws; .910 thin slide and 1.19 thin frame; dovetailed drift adjustable 3-dot configuration front and rear sights; total of two steel bodied magazines with 12 round .45 ACP capacity; overall length 7 3/4 inches from the muzzle to the rear of the frame strut; 6 inch height from the top of the rear sight to the end of the magazine finger rest; weight empty 32 ounces with center of gravity directly beneath the trigger. Each PT-845 is equipped with a total of three differently contoured Mainspring Housings; and the Taurus patented internal lock is located on the right side of the MSH, near the butt.
