U.S.A. Winchester Proof Steel. Construction is all steel metal parts, with milled steel shell carrier. Forend and Buttstock are American Hardwood, with a buttstock length of pull at 13 3/8 inches from the .312 smooth face trigger to the end of the factory polymer butt plate. Barrel is 20 inch with 1:12 six groove right hand rifling. Sights are dovetailed beaded blade front, and traditional semi buckhorn rear that is step adjustable for elevation and screw drift adjustable for windage. Magazine tube is full length steel, and holds 6 .30-30 Winchester caliber cartridges, so 6 + 1 total capacity. Hammer is traditional .370 serrated spur, and is drilled for a screw in hammer extension for scope users. Safety mechanism is receiver cross bolt, activates from the right side and blocks the hammer, with the additional original lever safety, so that the trigger will not operate without a firm hold on the lever. Receiver is drilled in four positions on top to accommodate any 94AE scope mount. Finish is original blue steel barrel, magazine, and parts. Wood finish is semi gloss oil type. Surface detractions are moderate to extensive, principally some etchy wear spots on the receiver sides and on the top left rear of the barrel. Buttstock shows a half inch top tang crack with no separation, and surface wear as well. We rate this Winchester as only Good, 65 to 70 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. We estimate this rifle was actually fired fewer than 200 times. Replacement pricing is $600 or more on most any 1894 Winchester.
