Century rat tail Flintlock .60 cal Pistol The overall length is 18.5 inches with the barrel being 11.5 inches in length. Although many decorations and marks can be seen as being present in the non magnetic Brass metal covering the pistol, the makers marks cannot be seen. The very basic design features of the flintlock mechanism attend to the 17th Century manufacture. The decorative engraving on the barrel are faint where light floral images can be seen. I have not tried to clean the metal but left it in its as found condition. The decorations on the lock plate, trigger guard, the side plates and forearm pieces all have a matching design basis. The decorations on the barrel have aged such they are hardly seen in the photos of the barrel but is a credit to their age. The ramrod has been replaced. Near the muzzle there is a turn of old wrapping which helps bind the stock and barrel together. The photos show evidence that a sight is missing from the front of the barrel if it existed originally. The flintlock mechanism does not function. There is so much detail with this pistol it is impossible to fully describe so I will rely on the many photographs.
