Beretta 1934 model pistol .380 acp Guns > Pistols > Beretta Pistols > Rare & Collectible
Description: Beretta 1934 pistol .380 acp -3.5" bbl - excellent condition accepted from the Beretta factory by the Romanian army during WWII. Is a " Curios and relics". The slide has turned almost a purplish color from high nickel content - The frame has a satin finish, The 3.5" bbl polished blue barrel has the import mark of ARMAMENTOS WPB FL .380 ACP Italy. Very nice Beretta logo grips, great shape - action excellent. Hefty pistol a tribute to Beretta's early craftmanship

I had a nice reminder from a collector of WWII hanguns that I had forgotten to mention. With the inclusion of his handgun history and provided research sites I learned more about this pistol. Just exactly what the tiny marks on the pistol meant. I t is real collectors piece. The sights are very simple, to the point of seeming rudimentary by todays standards , but work very well for a gun of this size and type. The magazine has an extended curved finger grip at the front, which gives it a comfortable feel in the hand. Most of todays pistols are selling an extension to their smaller caliber pistols as the operator can manage only a three finger grip. Beretta had this under control when it thought about What would give the gun stability and marksmanship of their quality built handguns during production in the second World War. They were way ahead of their time. Many probably were brought back by our troops as spoils of war. This particular .380 1934 model Beretta was imported from Italy. Despite the diminutive dimensions,(compact) the gun is quite heavy and feels extremely solid and well made. Not a polymer lightness which when shot looses sight of the target because it is not solid and heavy enough to maintain a steady grip after firing due to the heft and solid build of the gun. Part of the reason the 1934 feels so solid and well made is that the grips are (in a bizarre reversal of most real steel) made of zinc alloy, whilst the frame of the gun is heavyweight material ABS. The grips are nicely engraved and feel good (and cool to the touch) in the hand. Closer Look

The 1934 is a single action gun and lacks a decocker, but with this gun Beretta introduced a mechanism, a "Transfer hammer system", that allows you to pull the trigger, and let the hammer down gently, without releasing the gas from the magazine.

The pistol was manufactured in Italy for Romania, exported to Romania and issued to the Romanian army during WW2. The word "SCURT" [CAL.9 SCURT] means in Romanian language "short" and shows the type of 9mm round used: 9mm Short / .380 / 9X17 / 9mm Kurz. It does have the tiny mark "CM" in a circle which shows that the weapon was accepted for military service in Romania.
