Description: Why get all hot and bothered wanting an AR-15 when this shotgun outperforms that venerable rifle at close range? Firing a 1 9/16 ounce load of 3 1/2 inch steel shot delivers payload roughly equivalent to 100 rounds of .22 LR ammunition, all in one shot, and recoil is more manageable with steel, especially with this Mossberg’s pistol grip stock configuration. With, for instance, Winchester’s 54 Pellet #4 Buck in 3 1/2 inch, a similar payload with 54 pellets develops, like firing 54 rounds of .22 LR ammunition, all with one single pull of the trigger. This Mossberg 535 shotgun is built on the time honored 500 design, only capable of handling any standard or magnum 12 gauge shells all the way from 2 3/4 inch trap loads to the 3 1/2 inch magnums we’ve mentioned. Photos show a specimen of Mossberg’s 535 Turkey Thug with 20 inch Accu-Mag barrel and that is furnished with a ported factory Mossberg XX Full Accu-Choke tube that mikes at .724 on its back side and then chokes down to .664 at the muzzle, a pretty drastic amount of constriction. A person should not, of course, use steel shot in the XX Full tube; We are also including a factory Mossberg Extended Steel Shot tube for folk who want to use steel shot. Construction on the 535 is similar to the 500: steel barrel and internal parts including double slide bars, all mounted to a lightweight but very strong alloy receiver. Note the Picatinny or Weaver type rail on top of the receiver to accept most any optical or laser device. Finish is factory MOBU-INF Mossy Oak Breakup / Infinity camo. This shotgun’s only surface detractions are handling wear marks to that camo finish, principally on its buttstock and pistol grip edges, as the photos will show. At press time we had fewer than a dozen of these; their writeups are the same, but the photos are of each individual shotgun and our photographer is on the lookout for the wear spots. We classify this shotgun as Excellent, perhaps even Near Mint. It was never out of Mossberg Corporate custody until we got it, never had a 4473 form executed on it. It is in a relabeled factory Mossberg box, and that is how it shipped from the factory, with instruction manual and Mossberg cable lock. It even has a six month factory Warranty, and that is why we have No Returns indicated. Specs are slide or pump action shotgun, manufacturer O.F. Mossberg & Sons, model 535 Turkey Thug, SKU 45229. Barrel is 20 inch threaded for choke tubes, camo finish with factory fiber optic high visibility green and red dot, bifocal friendly sights. Note the barrel lug placement is the same as the model 500; barrels will interchange, but of course this is a 3 1/2 inch receiver and most 500 Barrels will only handle 3 inch shells. Capacity is 5 + 1 on 2 3/4 inch shells, 4 + 1 on 3 inch, and 3 + 1 on 3 1/2 inch shells. Maximum payload capacity, then, on #4 Lead Buckshot is 162 pellets on 2 3/4 inch; 205 pellets on 3 inch; and 216 pellets of #4 Buck on 3 1/2 inch shells. Only the ill fated Thompson .22 Clones and Calico helical guns of the 1980s could deliver similar firepower. They didn’t work; the Mossberg 500 action does work. Note the Mossberg LBA Lightning Bolt Action set trigger, one up on the Savage Accu-Triggers; and yes, Virginia, accuracy and trigger pull are very important on shotguns, especially for Turkey Hunting and Tactical Work. Replacement pricing on brand new specimens, if a person can even find one, exceeds $600 apiece in our area. We’re offering the Mossberg 535 Turkey Thug in the photos, however, for only $ 369.00. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> $20 lower 48; $60 AK, HI, PR, UPS Ground. No Returns on NIB, Lay-away, or Ammo. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
