Remington 1903-A3, manufactured Oct 1943, serial number 3986-xxx. No import marks. This rifle is in excellent used condition. The bore is very good, both in appearance and gauge measurement. Most metal parts have a nice parkerized finish. The buttplate and barrel band show some finish wear. No parts of the gun appear to have been polished or sandblasted. Lettering such as “U.S. REMINGTON” etc is as sharp as new. All marked parts appear to be Remington.
-Stock: GI walnut, straight grip, no finger grooves, two recoil pins. Marked “FJA” (Lt. Col. Frank J. Atwood), in box on left side above trigger, with crossed cannons (acceptance marks). Also “RIA FK3” in box on left side, indicating check & test or repair at Rock Island Armory (Frank Krack, Assistant Foreman of the Inspection Division at Rock Island Arsenal 1941-1946). Behind trigger guard are: 7/16” circled “P” (firing proof) and “4”. The stock tip is marked with a flaming bomb. The usual assembly marks are present in front of the trigger guard. The stock has no cracks, some dings and scratches.

-Trigger guard/floorplate: stamped, parkerized, circled “R” on magazine

-Bayonet lug: stamped, parkerized, marked “R” on left side
-Stacking swivel: stamped, parkerized, unmarked
-Barrel band: stamped, parkerized, sling swivel marked “R”
-Barrel band spring: marked “R”
-Barrel: RA, 9-43, parkerized, flaming bomb with proof punch mark in bomb. Proof “P” on underside of barrel. 2-groove rifling, bore is like new in appearance, very bright. Exterior of barrel is parkerized, finish is in excellent condition

-Rear sight: 1903-A3 type, base marked “X” on side
-Front sight: 1903-A3 type, base marked “R”. Blade is in good condition, marked “C”. Has sight cover, marked “R” and “US.” with flaming bomb
