The rifle is chambered in the 7.7 Japanese cartridge. The chrysanthemum on top of the receiver HAS been defaced and is not visible. The rifle has what it's original front sight and flip-up rear sight along with a bayonet lug. There are no import stamps on the barrel, the rifle has a 26" barrel, the bore is shiny and in excellent condition with crisp rifling and no pitting, the buttplate is in decent condition, the stock and hand guard appear to have their original finish. There are numerous scratches, nicks and divots in the wood typical of a military-type gun this age.
