The Terminator 12 gauge Short Barreled Shotgun was designed and built by Master Gunsmith Mark Graham of Arizona Response Systems expressly for me in 2006 ( it's on a Form 3 in NH ). In 2007, Mark was honored by SAR ( Small Arms Review ) magazine, when they acknowledged his outstanding craftsmanship by selecting him as their 2007 Gunsmith of Year.
Since receiving the Gunsmith of the Year award, Mark has been literally swamped with production work and will no longer accept custom projects like the Terminator. Mark has only built this one Terminator. Given the time, energy and expense involved in the project, Mark said he'll never build another Terminator -- making this truly a one of a kind piece.
Mark based the Terminator design upon the short barreled Winchester 1887 shotgun used extensively by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the second of the Terminator series of movies ( "Judgment Day" ). Starting out with a new-in-the-box IAC Model 87W 12 gauge replica of the famous Winchester 1887 lever action shotgun Mark; reduced the barrel by nearly 8.0" and the magazine tube by one round. The brass bead front sight was then reset and all of the metal was refinished in a beautiful rust-resistant, matte black. The buttstock was reduced to a "Witness Protection" type grip. Then all wood was completely stripped and refinished by a master furniture maker. Both the wood and metal presentation are now far superior to the original IAC finish.
The Terminator is ultra compact with a 12.5" long barrel with cylinder bore choke and an overall length of only 22.0" -- that's just a few inches longer than a Serbu Super Shorty. However, the Terminator has literally twice as much firepower as the Serbu and holds a total of six 2.75" 12 gauge shells ( four in the magazine tube, one on the follower and one in the chamber ) compared to the Serbu's total capacity of only three shells !
Mark said that the Terminator was a blast to shoot and surprisingly controllable due to both the Witness Protection style pistol grip ( which directs recoil forces away from the shooters wrist ) and also because the Terminator's 100% steel construction and massive receiver provides enough heft to really counter balance 12 gauge tactical loads ( the robust construction of the Terminator also makes it useful as a very compact, solid non-lethal "persuader" ). From an aesthetics perspective, the Terminators understated finish coupled with an almost complete lack of external indicia and controls imbues it with an unusually clean, retro appearance.
This one of a kind collector grade firearm is in new-in-the-box condition. Other than test firing during fabrication, it has not been fired ( or even handled )and has always been stored in a climate controlled vault. It's perfect for the Class 3 collector, Arnold fans, home defense and Cowboy Action Shooting. Unlike an authentic Winchester 1887 shotgun, the Terminator is constructed of modern steel alloys and has been Rockwell tested to confirm strength and durability so it has no problem digesting modern 2.75" 12 gauge loads. Original IAC 87W factory box and decorative leather lever cuff included. There is no owners manual.
Since the barrel is under 18.0" the Terminator is considered a Class 3 firearm and as such must be transferred through a Class 3 qualified FFL in the buyers state of residence. If you do not have a Class 3 dealer we can help you find one that will handle your transfer.
[ PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BENCHMADE FOLDER IS SHOWN IN THE PHOTO FOR SIZE COMPARISON ONLY AND IS NOT INCLUDED WITH THE TERMINATOR.]
