Marlin LC Smith factory prototype. Brophy's letter, on Marlin Firearms Co. letterhead, describes this gun, S/N FWM58179, as the prototype developed for the Deluxe model (see photo of letter). This prototype shotgun has a Simmons STEEL rib installed, the subsequent Deluxe model ribs were plastic. Incredible only begins to describe the fantastic original condition of this late Marlin Featherweight LC Smith. The photos tell the story. It retains ALL of its original brilliant case colors, not refinished. The barrels are 99%+++ blue with no perceptible wear anywhere and the wood is near perfect. Most likely this gun was never shot (but some one marred the tang screw). 28 in. barrels with middle bead, choked M&F. 14 in. LOP, 2-5/8 in. drop at heel, 1-3/4 in. drop at comb. Own a piece of L.C.
