From its home on Admiralty Island, just south of Juneau, comes this attractive and serviceable Sporterized Lee Enfield Rifle. Original manufacturer was Birmingham Small Arms factory in Shirley, England, with a 1943 production year. Chambering is the original 7.7 x 56mm, or .303 British caliber. Barrel is 20 inch, .740 outside diameter at the forend tip and .660 OSD at the muzzle, with five groove left hand 1:10 rifling. Scope mount is Addley Precision brand two screw 7 slot for Weaver or Picatinny Bases. Swivels are original Golden State permanent 1 1/2 inch type. Overall length is 39 3/4 inches. Weight empty no scope is 7.7 pounds with center of gravity under the extractor; or 8.8 pounds with the Nikon in place. Scope is a Nikon Prostaff BDC type, 3x9 variable with 40mm wide angle objective. Surface detractions are moderate, principally some whitening and toning at places to the black Golden State Refinish on the metal, and moderate surface wear to the stock. We rate this rifle as Very Good, 80 percent vicinity, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean, and the rifling is strong throughout with no visible pitting in the barrel or chamber. Safety, trigger mechanism, and disassembly all function smoothly and correctly. Trigger pulls at 3 1/2 pounds with minimal felt creep. Scope is excellent throughout with no wear on its body or lenses. Scope Rings are Weaver 4 screw with Allen Head Base attachments. The .303 is an excellent caliber for medium and even large sized game in North America. We’re offering the Lee Enfield / Golden State Arms sporter in the photos, complete with its 3x9 Nikon Scope, for only $ 339.00. This rifle is Not C&R Eligible, because Golden State Arms did not fold until the early 1970s.
